The impact of technology in education

Technology has impacted every aspect of our life, and of course education is one of them. If we could turn back in time we could see how education was before and how it has changed nowadays because of technology.

Firstly, some decades age students and pupils had only books and their teachers as source information. Students had to use encyclopedias, and different books in order to find the information needed to complete an assignment or to do a project. Nowadays, we can see students in their classes with laptops, iPads or tablets instead of books. This is due to the fact that we can find everything we want on the internet. We are just a click far from the information we want to find. We all agree at one point, technology has made our life easier when we need to collect amounts of information. They all can be found easily.

Secondly, as I mentioned above technology gives us the opportunity to learn everything we want with just a click. Before teachers were the only source of information for the students, but today you can find massive amount of information for a certain topic.  Today students take more responsibility in the class and the teacher is not the only source of information. Technology is a wonderful tool for teachers and students, because it helps them to find different materials easier. Teachers can create and organize their lessons in a better way than before.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    On the other hand, there is a bad impact that technology has had in education. It has to do with the students. Because of technology students do not take time to look for, search and find the appropriate information to complete a task. Nowadays students copy and paste the information they find in the internet without checking if it is true or not. They don’t read the whole information that they copy, either.

Finally, all I want to say is that technology has a great impact in education and it has improved our learning and teaching, but we should try not to be lazy. Because laziness is becoming a big issue these days.  Finding information ready is a good think but not reading it is not what we should do, because not everything we see and read is true and sometimes when we copy and paste the information, we are not doing anything more than just putting the information from one place to another and at the end the information stays out of our brain and our memory.
