Foreign language instruction should begin in kindergarten.

It is known that adults have more difficulties in learning a second language than children. Below I will give a list with some reasons.  


1.      1.This happens because every kid is born with the ability to learn the sounds of any language. That is why children learn the mother tongue without any difficulties and become fluent speakers in it. So, if we want our kids to learn a second language, it is the best thing to introduce it in the first year of life.

 

2.       2.Children develop an “ear” for languages. So they will have better pronunciation and fluency later in life.

 

3.      3.Children who learn a second language early in life have a huge head start both cognitively and linguistically. This will give them the chance to become bilingual.

 

4.       4. Learning a second language in kindergarten increases children’s understanding of his own native language.

 

5.       5.They have a better understanding of other cultures. Bilingual children are more aware of different cultures and their differences.

 

6.       6.They have the opportunity to connect and communicate with people from other places and different cultures.

 

7.      7. They will have better career opportunities, because nowadays it is very important to speak more than one language.

    Lindita, I found this post really interesting. I believe that the early children begin to learn new language the better will be the result. So, it would be beneficial to begin foreign language instruction in kindergarten.
